Gilbertson & Page Sponsor the International Sheep Dog Trials
17/09/2013
For the 15th year in a row, Gilbertson & Page have been a Principal Sponsor at the International Sheep Dog Trials. Held at Stoneleigh, home of the Royal Agricultural Society, the International is the pre-eminent trials in the calendar. 2013 was especially significant for the company as David Lodge, our showman of 18 years and a stalwart of the trials circuit, retired.
Gilbertson & Page’s long association with the International Trials and the International Sheep Dog Association is built upon the large numbers of working dogs that are brought up on our feeds. This is especially true of the Dr Johns range of dog feeds which are really well suited to the energy requirements of working dogs. That may be why the winners are generally as pleased with their sacks of food as they are with the tankards and decanters that we also provide!
This is International Brace Champion, Julie Hill, with Mac & Ban, receives her Gilbertson & Page decanter and glasses set (note well-placed Dr Johns dog feed in background!).
Here is Champion Young Handler, Caleb O’Keefe, with Tess and his Gilbertson & Page tankard!
In addition to these prizes, the Supreme Champion (2013’s is Ian Brownlie with Mo) received a decanter and glasses set, the winning Country Captain received the G & P Perpetual Cup and all winning dogs received a very welcome 15kg of Dr Johns. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the Gilbertson & Page engraved silver whistles, given to the top scorers per country, who become team captains, are highly sought-after by triallists and are a significant ‘badge of honour’.
